Country’s largest Indian language literature festival launched

Bengaluru, July 13- “Book Brahma Literarture Festival-2024 is the largest language literature festival of the country, organized by Book Brahma will be held on August 9-10-11 in Bengaluru. Around 300 writers from Kannada – Malayalam – Telugu – Tamil and English languages will participate in more than 80 panel discussions” said senior writer and researcher Nadoja Hampa Nagarajaiah.

He mentioned the above words at the poster release ceremony of ‘Book Brahma Literature Festival -2024’ during a press conference at Bangalore Press Club premises. Senior writer-researcher-critics Dr Mallepuram G Venkatesh, Dr. Narahalli Balasubramanya and Festival Director author-journalist Satish Chapparike were present during the release of #BBLF-2024 poster.

“This mega literature festival will be held on August 9-10-11 at St. John’s Hall and Premises, Koramangala, Bangalore. There will be a four tracks to be held in parallel. India’s great writers like K. Satchidanandan, Paul Zakaria, B. Jayamohan, Perumal Murugan, Benyamin, Volga, H.S. Shivaprasad, Viveka Shanabhaga, Girish Kasaravalli, Mamata Sagar, S.G. Vasudeva etc. will participating in the festival as speakers” he explained.

Speaking on the same occasion, Dr. Narahalli Balasubramanya said, “Book Brahma Literature Festival is very relevant and necessary if we take into account the present time and cultural conditions. The contribution of Kannada – Tamil – Malayalam – Telugu languages to world literature is immense. The purpose of this festival is to bring all the four historically important languages on one platform and facilitate mutual interaction.”

“Such a huge effort to unite all four languages has never been done anywhere in India. ‘Book Brahma Literature Festival’, which will witness many firsts, will become the pride of Kannada. Along with the writers, South Indian publishers will also come together here. Representatives of the University of Chicago in America will hold a round table meeting with South Indian publishers. The University of Chicago has created a special department called SALT for identifying important literary works in Indian languages and taking them into English,” he said.

One of the mentors of this literature festival Dr. Mallepuram G. Venkatesh said, “This is not just a literature festival. This is the Maha Sangam of  South Indian Art – Culture – Literature. A total of 9 cultural performances will be held during the three days of the festival. Padmashri Ventakesha Kumar, R. K. Padmanabh Prakash Rai, Bindumalini, Manasi Sudhir and Meghana Chandramouli are going perform. There will also be a stage performance by Natana and Nirdiganta troups. An Yakshagana performance by Keremane Mela will also be there.”

“There will be more than sixty bookstores in five languages on the premises of St. John’s Hall. Besides, there will also be a separate play yard for small children who come to the festival with their parents. An exhibition and sale of the works of about twenty artists has also been arranged. Our intention is to form ‘Book Brahma Literature Festival’ as an important platform where all the minds of South India can come together and exchange their views on literature, art and culture,” he said.

Registration is open, free

BENGALURU, July 13- Book Brahma Literature Fesitval-2024 has free entry for all literature lovers. However, registration is mandatory.

All those who want to participate in this literature festival can visit the website www.bookbrahmalitfest.com and register their participation. Each registered person will receive a registration number via email.

On the day of the Sahitya Utsav, a ‘Delegate Pass’ will be issued to the ‘Registration Desk’ located in the premises of St. John’s Hall and giving that number. 

Concerts, Art Shows, Cultural Shows and Book Exhibitions are open to all who have a ‘Delegate Pass’.

Those who accidentally forgot to register, even after arriving at the venue of the festival, if they register using the QR code and show the registration number, they will be given a ‘Delegate Pass’ at the venue.

A food court will be arranged in the premises where the #BBLF will take place. There you can buy meals and snacks by paying a fixed price. Delegates can take advantage of it.
